Tom Thakkar (née Brady) and Tommy McNamara hosted the long-running, weekly podcast, where the two hosts are joined by a guest to defend music acts that aren’t exactly critically acclaimed.
The concept is intriguing, and the two host (both comedians) do a great job of keeping the laughs going throughout each episode.
During each show, the guest defender, typically a fellow comic, sends over a list of six songs that Tom and Tommy listen through before discussing on the show.
Repeat guest include Shane Torres and Mike Racine, and the bands defended range from ABBA to Limp Bizkit.
The bittersweet aspect to Stand By Your Band is that the show ended in 2023; however, there remains years of very funny banter about bands that tend to get crapped on by industry snobs.
