Somewhere around August 2017, I was searching for fantasy football podcasts. I found one by CBS and it sounded like the hosts hated each other. I don’t think I made it to two episodes, and knew that I’d need to keep looking around. Just like any other talk show, the personalities make or break the show. Any jabroni can rattle off last week’s stats and guess what next week’s stats will be. It takes a little bit more to produce a show that’s entertaining beyond fantasy football prognostication. In shopping around for another fantasy football podcast, I didn’t have to look to far on itunes before coming across The Fantasy Footballers Podcast.
My first impression of The Fantasy Footballers was that the dialog was light and funny, and the chemistry was obvious. There were genuine friendships among the three hosts, Andy, Mike, and Jason. I will admit, at first I had a tough time distinguishing between Mike and Jason. I pictured a two headed person providing two of the voices, while Andy was the nagging grammar monitor. Despite the minor gripes, I really enjoyed the show, and the core of the show being fantasy football made it even more appealing; nothing too serious with three fellas shooting the s*** about draft prep.
The Fantasy Footballers and based out of Arizona. Andy, Mike, and Jason are mid-30 something dads that are all about fantasy football and had the proverbial balls to: (1) start a fantasy football podcast, and (2) actually make a living out of it. From time to time, they’ll have an open forum Q&A/AMA where they explain their respective backgrounds and the origin of the show. They are entrepreneurial at their core, and I’d be lying if I said they weren’t living my dream, but they are good at it. I sure hope their run keeps on keeping on.
